“With Liberty and Justice for All” – Celebrating Law Day 2014

Happy Law Day to all! Fifty-six years ago, President Eisenhower declared this a day to celebrate liberty, justice, and equality under the law. It is a day where we can reflect on our rights as Americans and look back on the fundamental documents of American democracy: The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. In these we are reminded that “all men are created equal” and guaranteed our right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.

This year the theme is “American Democracy and the Rule of the Law: Why Every Vote Matters”. The right to vote is the very foundation of government by the people and is proclaimed strongly in the Preamble to the Constitution as it begins with, “We the People”.
